When relationships feel difficult

Relationships can be a source of comfort and also of real pain. You might be going through repeated arguments, feeling distant from a partner, or noticing the same patterns appearing with different people. Difficulties with family members, friends or colleagues can be just as unsettling. Sometimes the struggle is less about a particular person and more about trusting others, setting boundaries or feeling able to ask for what you need.

Individual and couples work

Many people come to therapy on their own to understand their part in a relationship and what they bring to it from earlier experiences. This can help you notice patterns, communicate more openly and make choices with greater clarity. For couples who want to work on things together, the practice also offers couples therapy, where both partners have space to be heard.

In either case, the aim is not to decide who is right or wrong. It is to slow things down enough to understand what is happening between you and what each person needs.

A respectful, confidential space

Talking about relationships can bring up loyalty, guilt or worry about being judged. Sessions are confidential and unhurried. We will go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you, whether that is a current relationship, one that has ended or a decision you are facing.

Whatever you bring, you will be treated with respect. People of all backgrounds, identities and relationship structures are welcome, and we will use the language that fits your experience. We can also think about how you would like your relationships to feel in future.

When to reach out

You might consider talking to someone if:

  • Arguments keep following the same pattern and never feel resolved

  • You feel lonely or disconnected within a relationship

  • Trust has been affected by something that has happened

  • You find it hard to set boundaries or say no

  • You notice similar difficulties appearing across different relationships

  • You are unsure whether to stay in or leave a relationship
